Castleview food drive gets 2 tons
The shelves at the Carbon County Food Bank were getting low when Castleview Hospital stepped in to help fill those shelves.
Castleview Hospital Radiology Co-Director Deborah Poloni volunteered to head the project with the help of Administrative Assistant Christine Hammer.
It was suggested to all hospital employees to bring items for the food bank, and Castleview Hospital would match every donated item pound per pound.
The boxes were filling up slowly, when Castleview CEO Mark Holyoak and Christine Hammer got the idea to link the annual employee Christmas luncheon with a food drive.
It is customary that Castleview Hospital gives their employees a ham or turkey for Christmas. Flyers were posted around the hospital stating that if you brought a can, you would get a ham. Castleview employees collected and donated 2,000 pounds of food to the local food bank, plus a match of 2,000 pounds from the hospital itself. Two tons of much-needed food have been added to the shelves of the local food bank.
