PRICE - William Shield Jr., age 88, passed away Dec. 13, 2012 after a short illness.
Bill (Bud) was born March 13, 1924 in Price to William and Mary Fowler Shield. He was the third to the youngest of seven, all deceased. He married Angelina Fata Sept. 21, 1946 in Price.
He was proud of the fact that he lived in the home he was born in for the majority of his life where he and Angie raised their three daughters. He attended Carbon College and the University of Utah. He served as a member of the 499 Eng. Heavy Diesel Shop Co., Corp. Engineering in the U.S. Army. After his military service, Bill returned to Price and worked in the area as a diesel mechanic and auto parts salesman until his retirement.
Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, harvesting and drying fruit, and spending time with his family. Bill will be remembered as a giving person who loved to help others and make them laugh.
He is survived by his three daughters, Kathleen Strong (Don Ice) Grand Junction, Colo., Char Roper (Lee Wilderbuer) Scofield, Billene (Jim) Henrie, Price; grandchildren, Kim (Calvin) Jensen, Cori (Ken) Feist, Jadee (Kevin) Hall, Kelli Shaw, Terrence Henrie and Chantyl Henrie; five great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, Noon at Mitchell Funeral Home.
Family was at Mitchell's Monday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to those in need in honor of Bill Shield.
