EAST CARBON - Mary Velarde Gonzales, age 94, passed away Dec. 15, 2012 in Price.
She was born Oct. 5, 1918 in Cleveland, N.M. to Jose and Emilia Valdez Velarde.
Married Jose Felix Gonzales, May 22, 1940 in Fruita, Colo. He passed away on June 13, 1969.
Mary was a member of the Catholic Church. She was a longtime resident of East Carbon where she loved her gab sessions with her neighbors. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, camping and fishing. Mary was an excellent cook who enjoyed sharing creations with others.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Lobato, Sunnyside; son, Larry (Deanna) Gonzales, Logan; five grandchildren, Loretta (Courtney) Putscher, Las Vegas, Nev., Leland Jr., (Jessie) Lobato, Sunnyside, Paul (Khiana) Gonzales, Middletown, Ohio, Michelle Gonzales, Tucson, Ariz., Jon (Kerry) Gonzales, Colorado Springs, Colo; six great-grandchildren, Tyson (Krystle), Marques, Dominique, Jade, Ana Sofia and Monique; many special nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Leland Lobato; sisters, Emma and Addie; and brother, Joe.
Funeral Mass, Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, 10 a.m., Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Vigil service, Wednesday evening 7 p.m., Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Family will be at the church in East Carbon Wednesday and Thursday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery, Price. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Mary at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
