Three suspects have been arrested and booked on multiple charges in connection with a violent kidnapping and robbery that began in Helper early Sunday morning.

Helper Police Chief Trent Anderson said that the investigation so far indicates that the kidnapping took place shortly before 1 a.m.

Two men and one woman showed up at the home of the victim, who apparently knew the young woman, 21-year-old Hannah Downard of Price.

Anderson identified the male suspects as 24-year-old Monty Emmons Jr. and Justin Marrs, 22.

They lured the victim into their car, then the men allegedly held him at gunpoint and tied him up.

The trio then took him to what Anderson called "a remote place in the county," where the men beat him, took his clothes, shoes, credit and debit cards and keys. They also forced him to reveal his personal identification number for his cards.

They then abandoned him in the wilderness and headed back to Helper. The victim was able to walk out to safety.

The suspects then allegedly used the victim's key to steal his car.

The suspects are also accused of withdrawing money from his bank account, using the stolen card in an ATM.

When police learned of the stolen car, they were able to put the description and plate number on the National Crime Information Computer.

The car, with Marrs and an apparently uninvolved female inside, was discovered by Moapa Tribal Police on the reservation near Las Vegas.

Marrs was being held in the Clark County Detention Center as of Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Sandy City police were able to nab Emmons Jr. and hold him.

The Carbon County Jail report shows Emmons Jr. was booked on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, theft by extortion, felony theft, possession of a deadly weapon with intent to assault, financial card offense (use), financial card offense (possession), threatening with or using a dangerous weapon in a fight or quarrel, aggravated assault, and arrange or distribute a controlled substance.

The charges against Downard were aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and theft by extortion.

Chief Anderson gave credit to the "solid police work" and cooperation among the police departments of Helper, Price and Sandy, Moapa Tribal Police and Carbon County Sheriff's Department.
