This year's diving team at Carbon High School all started out learning the sport from scratch.

The team has three divers who have never dove before, so it is a real challenge.

Lexi Monson is a ninth grader from Mont Harmon Jr. High, Canessa Montoya is a sophomore at Carbon High School and Tommy Zumda is a junior at the Lighthouse School.

In the first diving meet at Park City on Nov. 10, Lexi Monson placed sixth out of 12 divers. Tommy Zumda placed ninth in the boys competition and Canessa Montoya placed 10th in the girls competition.

This week on Saturday Nov. 17, Carbon held its own invitational diving meet. Zmuda was the top diver for Carbon placing fourth in the boys competition and received a trophy.

Lexi Monson also received a trophy for placing fifth in the girls competition. Canessa Montoya placed ninth in the girls diving.

All three divers have improved their best scores and places from the first competition. The next meet that the team will participate in will be held in Park City on Dec.1.

Any one interested may still try out for the team. Call Stu Foster at 637-0642.
