A coal truck lies overturned and leaking diesel fuel onto US 6 early Wednesday evening as a pickup truck it struck sits to the side of the road with a smashed front end. According to an eye witness, the incident occurred when the Savage Coal truck turned right off of Hwy. 123 at Sunnyside Junction and collided with the westbound Ford truck. Utah Highway Patrol officials reported that the Savage driver was cited at the scene for failure to maintain a single lane of travel. The impact caused the coal truck to tip and spill its load as well as diesel fuel across the roadway. Utah Highway Patrol, Wellington Police and East Carbon City Police blocked off the scene while waiting for the Carbon County HAZMAT Squad. While the accident held up traffic for close to 90 minutes, no serious injuries were reported.
