Train-truck collision in Wellington, no injuries
A train-truck collision in Wellington on Friday morning left the specially-rigged truck disassembled in the impact and had parts blocking railroad tracks for more than two hours.
The wreck happened at 10:45 a.m. when a Price River Water Improvement District truck entered a rail crossing at 100 East Street into the path of an oncoming Union Pacific freight train. The crossing is ungated but is equipped with warning signals.
No one was seriously hurt in the accident.
The collision scattered water tanks, pipes and valves on the tracks and right-of-way. It also demolished a warning signal that had been replaced less than a month ago when another driver had rammed into it.
