Duane Lamar Catlin passed away with his family by his side on Oct. 29, 2012.
Bud was born Jan. 30, 1935 to Quartus Lloyd and Isabell Fontella Sherman Catlin in Kenilworth and grew up in Price. He married Carol Davis; later divorced. He married JoAnn "Midge" Messinger; later divorced. He married the love of his life, Donna Lambson on March 19, 1983.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He started his law enforcement career with Price City Police Department and then moved to Salt Lake City and joined the Utah Highway Patrol in 1960 where he retired after 32 years of service in 1992 as a Captain.
He was the longest serving councilman for Taylorsville City, serving 14 years beginning in 1998 to 2011, a job he truly enjoyed.
Bud and Donna enjoyed traveling all over the world. Bud enjoyed showing Donna new places she'd never seen. He was a strong family man and enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. It was out of his character to ever allow a dog in the house, but he soon changed his tune and had a great love for his puppies, Jax and Libby, much to the surprise of his family.
Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Cooley; and brother, Wendell Catlin.
Survived by his wife; children: Debbie (Bob) Lund, Cindy (David) Eyre, Danny (Rae) Catlin, Tammy (Rex) Westover, Michelle Perez, Eben (Liz) Powell; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren (with two on their way); sisters, Ardith Winn and Mavis (Reid) Wilson.
The family would like to convey a special thanks to the IHC Hospital RICU.
