EAST CARBON - Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Guadalupe "Lupe" Cruz-Valdez, age 90, entered into eternal rest on Oct. 24, 2012 while surrounded by her loving family at her home in East Carbon.
She was born Dec.12, 1921 in Chama, N.M. to Leandro and Rafelita Sandoval Cruz.
Married Salvador M. Valdez on Jan. 25, 1943. He passed away March 24, 1998.
Lupe loved cooking at the malt shop and at her home for family and strangers alike. She loved turning strangers into lifelong friends. Lupe loved her children unconditionally and especially enjoyed listening to her boys play in the band. She looked forward to teasing her grandchildren and was always ready for a road trip with her family. She was a very giving person and enjoyed making salsa to give to people. Lupe was a devout member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in East Carbon. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survived by her children, Lora (Filiberto) Meraz, Carbondale, Colo., Darrell (Peggy) Valdez, East Carbon, Ronald (Tammy) Valdez, Salem, Ernest (Robyn) Valdez, Kearns, Denise (George) Snyder, Price, Stephen (Stormy) Valdez, Grand Junction, Colo; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother, Archie (Gregg) Cruz, Alison, Colo; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Salvador; five brothers; two sisters; sons, Jesse and "good" Ernest; great-granddaughter, Faith.
Vigil Service, Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Family will receive friends Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to service at the church. Committal Service, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Lupe online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
