Two Carbon High School athletes were honored by being named to Academic All-State teams during the Fall sports season.

CHS girls cross country runners Jennee Martinez and Diana Olsen were named to the Academic All-State teams for their hard work in the classroom.

Martinez, a senior, and Olsen, a senior, were recently named to the Academic All-State team after the cross country season was finished with the state meet at Sugarhouse in Salt Lake City.

The CHS girls cross country team advanced to the state meet last week along with two members of the boys team.

Olsen finished the race with a time of 22.50 and Martinez finished in 23.19.

Martinez and Olsen were a part of 12 athletes from 3A that were named to the team. The combined GPA of everyone named was 3.995.

One more athlete has a possibility of being named to the Academic All-State team. CHS football player Adam Thayn was nominated to the Academic All-State in 3A after he was named to the Academic All-Region 12 team. The All-State team for all football classes have yet to be announced.
