PRICE - Our loving mother, Yia Yia and devoted friend Christine "Kris" Kontas Saccomanno, age 88, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 16, 2012.
She was born Dec. 7, 1923 in Kenilworth to Mike J. and Katherine Charalambakis Kontas.
Married Armand J. Saccomanno July 24, 1954, he passed away Aug. 14, 1982.
Kris enjoyed bowling and was active in her league and the King Koal Women's Bowling Association from 1953 to 2000. She was the first bowler to be inducted in the KKWBA Hall of Fame in July 1992. Kris worked as a book keeper for Carbon County Coal Mines from 1942 to 1982. She was a member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and the Philoptochos Society in Price.
Survived by her two daughters, Cindy Saccomanno, Helper, Terri (Andrew) Lasslo, Kenilworth; four grandchildren, Matthew (Gwen) Lasslo, Christina (Ian) Hurley, Tim Lasslo, Zachary (Jilynn) Acklin; two great-granddaughters, Elika Grace Hurley and Alexis Kristine Acklin.
Preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Kontas, Helen Konakis, Irene Kolovich; brother, John Kontas.
Funeral service, Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, 11 a.m., Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, Price. Committal, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Kris online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
