The 33-year-old Ferron man entered his pleas in Seventh District Court in Ferron. Judge Douglas B. Thomas set sentencing for Jan. 15. Behling faces up to a year imprisonment and $2,500 on each count.

Charges of manslaughter, two additional counts of reckless endangerment and carrying a firearm while intoxicated were dismissed.

Behling's statement reads that he allowed Weston into his home, where four minor children were asleep, and allowed her access to a loaded hand gun he legally possessed.

"Although I did not fire the gun, dor did I believe Ms. Weston would harm herself, endanger the chldren or even fire the hand gun, she in fact discharged a single shot killing herself and endangering the children."
