For the fourth straight year, Castle Country residents came together as Fall weather broke to shop and be entertained at Shoppapalooza in the Carbon County Event Center.

"The event is set up primarily for small and home-based businesses in both Carbon and Emery County," said Carbon County Chamber of Commerce Coordinator and Shoppapalooza organizer Ann Evans. "We bring them under one roof to show the community about these hidden gems."

Booths at the event covered the whole of Castle Country, from larger businesses such as the Price Auto Group to smaller shops like the new Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory inside of Cold Stone in Price.

"We really enjoy bringing our products out to this event," said Chocolate Factory and Cold Stone owner Joni Hackwell, who has participated in the event for all four years. "We have sold a lot chocolate this year and our apples have been a big hit."

Food booths made up a major part of this year's event as the Balance Rock Eatery from Helper and several other restaurants took their show on the road.

"Because of the food and entertainment it is really easy to spend the whole afternoon here," said Liz Holt, who drove in from East Carbon to Shoppapalooza. "You can eat, have dessert and shop under one roof, you don't often find that in Carbon County."

In addition to the sale items, a kids area was set up by event organizers to allow the area's younger residents to enjoy the event. The Kid's Zone featured bounces as well as games and prizes.

As in past years, many items were collected by Shoppapalooza organizers which were used as door prizes. A grand prize drawing capped off Saturday's festivities which also included an ice cream eating contest, fashion and talent show.

While totals are not yet available from the chamber concerning attendance, vendors remained busy as Shoppapalooza's main hall was full for most of the weekend.
