Recently, four Carbon High boys basketball stars were named to the Region 8 all region team.

Selected to the first team were Neal Maynes and Joe Moynier. Both athletes completed the year quite successfully.

The two seniors became key players in the Dinos lineup and received several compliments from team members and coaches alike.

Maynes played guard for the Dinos and managed to sink three-point shots quite effortlessly for the Carbon ball club.

Moynier also played guard for the Dinos and also had a successful season from the field. The Dino athlete could sink a shot from just about anywhere on the field.

Appointed to the all region second team was seniors, Tyson Hackwell and Jamal Lewis.

Hackwell guided the team throughout the year by manning the point guard position. Along with his ball handling skills, Hackwell also added his fair share of points from the field.

Lewis played the forward position and became a strong athlete under the basket. His rebounding skills allowed the Dinos to capitalize on several big breaks throughout the year.

All four of these talented athletes will be missed next season as each move on after graduating this spring.

Carbon athletes named to academic all-state rosters.

Three of the six names that grace the Class 3A academic all-state roster this year belongs to Carbon High athletes.

Included in the line-up are Nathan Horrocks, Garret Schmitz and Chass Henrie who each offered their talent to this year's successful Dino wrestling team.

In the Class 3A girls swimming and diving category, Rebecca Hall was the only athlete from Carbon to be included on the all-state roster.

Finally, Neal Maynes was the only Dino athlete to be included on the Class 3A basketball academic all-state team.

Each athlete who was selected to the teams not only competed well in their sport, but each maintained a high grade point average.

The focus on sports and academics is awarded to these athletes through the annual academic all-state honors.
