College students, faculty and Price City officials are the first to cross 300 East Street after the ribbon cutting for the new, high-tech crosswalk. USU Eastern students, tired of dodging careless drivers, worked with the city to come up with the solution. From now on, a student crossing the street can push a post-mounted button before entering the street. That sends a wireless signal to an array of solar-powered LEDs mounted on warning signs 150 feet north and south of the crosswalks. Drivers know that someone is going to cross. Chancellor Joe Peterson told the audience that it's symbolic of what happens when "a city that loves its college gets together with a college that loves its city."
