Bevan Collard cuts through steel during the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America/Skills USA competition at College of Eastern Utah last Friday. The competition included college and high school students from around the area in such vocations as welding, auto tech, diesel tech and cosmetology. The competition ended Saturday with an awards dinner at the CEU College Center. First place winners qualified for state competition, where they have the chance to move on to the national event. Rewards at the state and national contests include scholarship money and students with high finishes are sought out by the industries in chosen careers.
