Martha absolutely loved her association with her friends in the American Legion Auxiliary where she faithfully served for many years. In 2007 she was the National American Legion Woman of the Year. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the Historical Society and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Martha spent her life in service to others. Her first dedication was to her disabled son and then to family, friends and her community. In her last years she has treasured time spent with her special friend, Phillip Nelson. Martha had many talents.
While living and raising her family in Las Vegas, Nev., she spent many years working in the wardrobe department for the Tropicana and Caesars Palace Hotels. Her likes were varied and included cooking (especially angel food cakes for the grandkids), reminiscing, giggling with her sisters, fishing with Donnie, trapping and whatever BYU sport was in season.
Martha has influenced many lives with her vibrant, always-on-the-go personality. She had a ready smile and scattered sunshine everywhere she went. Everyone loved Martha and she in return treated everyone like family. The family appreciates all of the fun stories and shared memories. Martha had a zest for life and her youthful personality delighted the hearts of all. Her genuine warmth and concern will be greatly missed by all.
