HELPER - Dwayne Waldo Gale, age 70, made his final cast, Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012 while surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 8, 1941 in Martin to Waldo B. and Mazel Grames Gale.

He married Barbara Lipparelli, July 28, 1962 in Helper and they were blessed with three girls.

Dewey was a lifelong resident of Carbon County who enjoyed working in numerous coal mines in the area. He was known as a hard worker and as a friend that you could always count on. Some of his favorite memories were working alongside his buddies at Genwal and teaching his fishing buddies how to catch fish. Dewey was a member of the U.M.W.A. and the Castle Country Bass Masters where he will be greatly missed.

Dewey shared a deep love for his family and friends. His family meant the world to him and he enjoyed following his girls and their children in their endeavors. Dewey loved to hunt, trap, fish and go camping at Lake Powell and Avintaquin. Every outing was an adventure with Dewey and he made many friendships that will never be forgotten.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tisa Pendergrass of Community Nursing Services, and Terry Howell, Butch Pilling, Leland Bogdin, Leon Rich, and Brent Wilder for your daily visits and continued support.

Dewey is survived by his wonderful wife of fifty years, Barbara L. Gale, mother, Mazel Gale, both of Helper; daughters, Wende Jacobson & Chance Rasmussen, Helper, Donie (Shane) Hackney, Deena (Bobby) Schade, both of Price; sisters, Arlene Gale, Price, Carol (Gourdin) Olsen, Farmington, Pam (Jeremy) Ryder, Hector, Minn; twin brother, Dwight (Joyce) Gale, Lakewood, Colo; seven grandchildren, Derek (Dani) Gale, Tyler Gale, Conner Jacobson, Tanner and Shainey Hackney, Calie and Cooper Schade; great-grandson, Kasher Gale.

He was preceded in death by his father, Waldo B. Gale; mother-in-law, Hazel Faccenetti; brother-in-law, Rick Faccenetti; and son-in-law, Shane Jacobson.

Memorial service, Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 E. Main Street, Price). Family will be at Mitchell's Sunday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to service.
