Dinos pick up first win, defeat Ben Lomond 42-12
The Carbon High Football team picked up their first win of the season going on the road to Ogden to defeat the Ben Lomond Scots 42-12 on Friday evening.
Carbon High quarterback Dakota Cisneros helped lead an offensive attack that gained 423 yards against the Ben Lomond defense. Cisneros finished the game going 14-for-29 for 249 yards and five touchdowns and no interceptions. Running back/wide receiver Jordan Blanc finished with 116 rushing yards and two touchdowns and wide receiver Zac Hathaway had two receiving touchdowns.
The game did not start the way Carbon High would have liked as Ben Lomond took the opening kickoff back for a touchdown and a 6-0 lead.
The Carbon High offense failed to score on their first drive that ended with the Dinos failing to convert a fourth-down inside the Ben Lomond 5-yard line. The Carbon High defense forced the Scots to punt and the Dinos drove down the field getting on the scoreboard with a Cisneros touchdown pass to Hathaway and a successful 2-point conversion for an 8-6 lead.
Carbon High would add two more touchdowns in the second quarter as Cisneros connected with Blanc and Hathaway again to increase the lead to 22-6 heading into halftime.
After a long kickoff return to start the second half by Garrett Blanc, Cisneros connected with Jordan Blanc on a long 62-yard touchdown pass giving Carbon High a 28-6 lead.
Ben Lomond added a touchdown run to cut the deficit to 28-12, but CHS's Lane Neese stripped the ball from a Ben Lomond player and returned the ball down the field for another CHS touchdown and a 35-12 lead.
On the ensuing kickoff, Ben Lomond (0-3, Region 11) fumbled the ball and CHS's Dallyn Mower recovered giving the ball back to the Dinos. Cisneros connected with wide receiver Kyle Barrett for his fifth passing touchdown of the game sealing the 42-12 victory for CHS.
Carbon High (1-2, Region 12) will now prepare for a home game on Friday night against Union at 7 p.m.
