PRICE - Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Shirley Cook King, age 84, passed away Aug. 29, 2012 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
She was born Sept. 25, 1927 in Wellington to William and Myrtle Tidwell Cook.
Married her sweetheart Donald V. King June 19, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Shirley was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served the Lord with all her heart. She served in many church callings and served an 18 month mission in Thailand with her husband from 1999-2001.
She was an educator in the Carbon County School District for 28 years, mostly at East Carbon High School. Shirley was a volunteer at Castleview Hospital for over 20 years where she delighted the hearts of many. Her greatest joy was her family whom she loved and cared for more than anything else. She was deeply proud of her five children, twenty one grandchildren and forty one great-grandchildren.
Survived by her husband, Donald V. King; five wonderful children, Ralee (Benny) Noyes, Marla (Brent) Orton, Terri (Chuck) Watkins, Kurt (Bonnie) King, Brett (Annette) King; and three grandchildren whom she raised, Ben (Misty) Noyes, Emily (Dennis) Normandeau and Jay (Becky) Noyes.
Preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and sisters, son-in-law, Benny Noyes; and grandson-in-law, Dennis Normandeau.
Funeral service, Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, 1 p.m., Price Seventh LDS Ward (995 E. 700 N., Price). Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 E. Main Street, Price) Friday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. and at the church Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Wellington City Cemetery.
