Dinos golf team sets goal of cutting into Spanish Fork lead, finishes second at home region match
The goals were set before the home match was played. After finishing the match, the Carbon High boys golf team can say they did what they set out to do in the days before hosting the region match.
The Carbon High Boys Golf Team stayed home to host their region match on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012. The team played well as they shot a team total of 310 to finish second behind Spanish Fork who shot 296.
Carbon High head coach Tom King said the team had a goal of playing better overall and moving closer to first place Spanish Fork.
"I told the kids that our goal coming into our home match was to try to get closer to Spanish Fork and Payson and increase our lead over Juab and North Sanpete. We did a great job and I am very proud of our whole team," he said.
The low round of the day was 69 by Benson Rhees of Spanish Fork and Dalton Jackson of Juab.
The low round for the Carbon High team was shot by senior Freston Smith who shot a 76.

"We even left a couple of shots out there as we still three putted a few times or missed a few putts, but as a whole team they did great," King said.
