Eva Marie Olsen Chavez passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012.
Eva was born Feb. 18, 1936 in Price to Hyrum and Ada (Noyes) Olsen. She grew up in Price graduating from Carbon High School. She married Nicholas Chavez on Dec. 4, 1955 and they were later sealed in the Manti Temple on Aug. 19, 1965.
Eva was an active member of the LDS church where she served in many callings, including Relief Society President, Young Women's President, Stake Missionary, and Primary Teacher. She loved serving the church.
One of Eva's favorite times in her life was when she and her sweetheart square danced and traveled all around the country at square dance conventions.
Eva is survived by her husband Nick, daughter Sandy (Eddie) Lopez, both of Moab; two sons Nick Jr. (Twila), of Farmington, N.M., and Greg (Shauna), Rifle, Colo; two sisters Margie (Terry) Byrge, and Iola Rutherford, both of Price; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, a son Michael, and a granddaughter Jaime Lopez Guynn.
Grandma loved her family with all her heart and loved following her grandkids around in whatever they were participating in. SHE WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR HEARTS!!!!
Funeral Services were held Monday, Aug. 20, 2012 at the Moab LDS 2nd Chapel at 10 a.m. A viewing was held Sunday Aug. 19, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Spanish Valley Mortuary in Moab. Interment was in the Wellington city Cemetery.
