The College of Eastern Utah ladies basketball team wrapped up the regular season this past weekend as they host their final two games of the year.

The weekend kicked off Thursday evening as the Eagles hosted the College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles.

The game was competative as both teams stayed pretty much even throughout most of the ball game.

By the half, the eastern Utah team lead the visiting Idaho team, 30-29.

With one quarter remaining, both teams came out strong and played with intensity.

CEU shot only 30 percent from the field in the second half while southern Idaho shot 29 percent.

The home team managed to capture the victory however, as the Eagles defeated southern Idaho, 71-65.

Leading CEU in scoring was Lindsey Arnoldus who finished the game with 14 points.

Cassie Warburton and Kasey Mills followed in scoring with 11 points while Janeen Nelson and Jennifer Barney each scored 10 points.

CEU concluded Thursday's game full of excitement, but the Eagles knew that they would have to return to their homecourt Saturday night ready for action.

That is exactly what the team did as they entered the ball game against the Salt Lake Community College Bruins filled with determination.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, the determination was not enough to win the ball game as they fell to the Bruins, 81-77.

Mills lead the team in scoring with 17 points as well as Barney who also posted 17 points. Barney also shot 11-12 from the free-throw line.

The Eagles finished the regular season with a 7-9 Scenic West Athletic Conference record and an overall record of 16-14.

The team now goes into the SWAC final tournament ranked seventh in the conference.

The Eagles will now face the number two seeded Utah Valley State College this Thursday night in the first round of the finals.

The Eagles realize that this will be a challenging game, but they also recognize the importance of winning.

If the team drops to the Wolverines, they will be eliminated from the region tournament.

The Wolverines have defeated the Eagles twice this year, but CEU is confident that they can snap this streak and advance to the semifinal round of the tournament Friday.
