Helper Arts and Music Festival will feature staged
reading: 'The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs'
The OtherSide Players and The 2012 Helper Arts and Music Festival will present a staged reading of The Agony And The Ecstasy of Steve Jobs by Mike Daisey. Performances are at 2 p.m. this Friday and Saturday at the Rio Theatre. Admission is free.
This one-man show is provocative, exciting, and can be described as useful - it charges people to examine their lives, their role in economic realities, and take action within those frameworks. The playwright weaves together gonzo journalism and autobiographical tales that cut to the bone of some of the most captivating topics in American culture. Following a trail of technology all the way to China and back, Daisey turns his lens to Apple and Steve Jobs, asking the question "how did one obsessive man change the world to his liking-and at what cost?"
The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs will be directed by Alexandra Harbold, Artistic and Literary Associate at the Salt Lake Acting Company, and performed by Morgan Lund, Artist in Residence with The OtherSide Players at The Rio.
