Research before you write

This letter is in response to the article printed in the July 24th edition of the Sun Advocate, titled "Hope and Change" written by Robert Warren from East Carbon.

I did some research pertaining to the Assignment of National Security and Emergency Preparedness Communications Functions. Mr. Warren makes it sound as if President Obama, and his staff came up with the idea all on their own. That its all brand new, and Obama is trying to be sneaky about it. This particular government entity came into effect in 1934, then was amended July 26, 1947 by President Truman. It was modified and changed somewhat on April 3, 1984 by President Ronald Reagan. It was also amended on February 28, 2003, and June 26, 2006.

It would be wise to look up the facts pertaining to certain bills signed into law, before going off the deep end and declaring to one and all that the President now has the power to declare martial law and suspend the American way of life.

It is my belief, that the American way of life in the last two centuries has gone down the tubes from apathy, lethargy, as well as a narcissist tendency. In other words that its always someones else's problem. Just leave me alone to do my thing. Only 30 percent of all Americans in the entire United States, voted in the last election. We score 14th in reading, 17th in Science and 25th in Math, worldwide. The countries that are in the top ranking include South Korea, Finland, and Canada Whenever there is a tax cut, the first thing to be cut is education.

During this election campaign we have in the running Mitt Romney, who has off shore hidden bank accounts. Read the article in Vanity Fair, August 2012. He is unwilling to release where his other money is, or if he pays taxes on it. He is linked with Bain Capital, from which he received for the month of June 2012, $2 million.

Quoted from HuffingtonPost.com on July 12 "Bain, a private equity firm, held a stake in the LifeLike Co. until the end of 2001, including during the period in which Romney claimed to have no business involvement with Bain entities. Bain had heavily invested in LifeLike, a company that Romney identified personally as an opportunity, in 1996 and sold its shares in late 2001. His involvement with LifeLike contradicts his assertion that he had no involvement with Bain's business. His testimony is supported by his 2001 Massachusetts State Ethics Commission filing, in which he lists himself as a member of LifeLike's board."

On Thursday The Boston Globe blew a giant hole in Romney's claim that he left the private equity firm in 1999. The Globe reported that Bain's own filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission suggest that Romney remained deeply tied to the company until sometime in 2002.

You think this man is at all concerned about what the working class of America makes? Does he care if they have health insurance, a reliable car, or a roof that doesn't leak. How about the elderly, who want to stay in their own homes, but don't have enough money to fix the plumbing, or have enough to eat?

Romney also outsourced American jobs, (that means he took jobs away from Americans who needed the work) and opened up companies overseas. He is hand in glove with the Koch Brothers, who are billionaires and all for big oil companies, and not having to pay taxes. They have so many loopholes with which their lawyers help them to stash the cash and there are not regulations stopping them.

Quoted from Business Week July 2012, "The larger point here is that Romney's business background was about creating wealth - regardless of the impact it had on American jobs."

An article in MOTHER JONES on July 11, 2012 said "Romney was in command when a company he owned and controlled bought a large stake in a Chinese venture that counted on American companies sending manufacturing - and that means jobs- to China. These days, Romney rails against China for swiping American jobs and proclaims, 'For me, it's all about good jobs for the American people.' But when there was money to be made by acquiring a chunk of a Chinese company that aimed to displace American manufacturing (and American workers) Romney's patriotism did not interfere with the potential for profit."

Go on line and see Romney's views about regulations for large companies, his views pertaining to the poor, or numerous other statements he (or his wife) has made (that all to often need to be smoothed over).Read about the comment about the little people, and he's not talking about midgets.

Quoted from roanoke.com on July 28, 2012. "As F. Scott Fitzgerald might have written, the Romneys are different than you and me. Take Ann Romney for example, the wife of Mitt Romney, the putative GOP presidential nominee. The little people have no right to know about her "family" finances or taxes. Its none of their business, she said on TV Thursday."

Seems to me, Romney will do and say anything to get into the Presidency, so that he has the title of President to tack onto his name. There are far too many gullible people who listen to candidates without checking into what their party really believes in. What has that person done in the past? What are they known for? How many times have they been known to lie, and then come up with, "Well it's politics, everybody does it."

Sadly, on a finally note. There is no chance any longer for one of us, (we're the little people) to aspire to be President of these United States. The Supreme Court made it just fine and dandy for any amount of money to be shelled out when running for the Presidency. It's no holds bar, with no regulations.

Who says you can't buy your way into the White House and get a title.
