A burn-out competition is scheduled for Aug. 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. on Cedar Street behind Helper City Park. The city pool will close at 5 p.m. to accommodate the event.

Carbon County will deliver the concrete barriers necessary for crowd protection.

Helper Police will administer breathalyzer tests to contestants before they enter the burnout lane.
