Helper and Price players team together to help win All-Star game
Three local American Legion Baseball players played big roles in helping their team secure a 7-6 win in a back and forth game that lasted for 12 innings.
Helper's Jake Nichols and Seth Tryon along with Price's Chris Smith each contributed to the East All-Star team's win over the West All-Stars on Saturday evening at the Ken Price Field in Murray.
Helper baseball head coach Jeff Cisneros said Nichols finished with a good game on the mound and at the plate. Nichols went 2-3 at the plate and pitched three innings for the East-All Stars which earned him MVP honors.
Tryon went 2-2 with two doubles and was intentionally walked in the later innings.
Smith, representing the Price American Legion baseball team, played well at catcher working with an assortment of pitchers. Cisneros said he Smith also threw out four West baserunners trying to steal a base in the game.
Helper's Jaren McCourt was also selected to the All-Star game but did not participate, Cisneros said.
