Fire crews are continuing their efforts to quell the flames of the Lighthouse Fire which started on Wednesday night.

The Lighthouse Fire in Range Creek Canyon is "definitely looking better today than yesterday," according to incident spokesman Jason Curry of the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands.

Seven Type Three ground crews, assisted by four helicopters and six engines were fighting the fire Friday afternoon.

The estimate of total acreage affected has been reduced slightly to 839 acres because of increased accuracy of ground and aerial surveying. The Range Creek area contains irreplaceable archaeological artifacts of ancient Native American culture.

The Sun Advocate will post more information about the Lighthouse Fire as soon as it is made available.
