SUNNYSIDE - Jerry L. Lemon, age 64, passed away suddenly July 11, 2012.

He was born Jan. 9, 1948 to Joseph and Opal Jackson Lemon in Moab where he resided for many years. On Nov. 28, 1987, Jerry married Karen Leavens in Sunnyside.

Jerry eventually moved to East Carbon where he worked for Kaiser Steel Coal Mine for 28 years. He was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America local # 9958. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, making jewelry, four wheeling, rock hunting and just being outdoors. He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.

Survived by his wife, Karen Lemon; daughters, April (Randy) Muncy, Bobbi (Rick) Hopkins, Sandie (Nathan) Forrest; three step-children, Bridget (Darrel) Ross, Heidi (Johnny) Gragert and Shawn Bronbrake, as well as his brother, David J. (Lynn) Lemon; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Opal Lemon; son, JL Lemon; granddaughter, Karen Hopkins; son-in-law, Rod Hopkins; and great-grandson, Luke Davies.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tami at Community Nursing Services and to all those who helped Jerry over the years. Your many acts of kindness and love will never be forgotten.

Memorial service, Wednesday, July 18, 2012, 2 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 E. Main Street) Price. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Jerry at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.ere held Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Vernal 4th Ward LDS Chapel with a viewing one hour prior to services. Burial was in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post 127 and 11 and the Utah Army National Guard. Funeral services were entrusted to the care of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
