The Castle Valley Barracudas are having a spectacular summer season taking their undefeated streak through four meets in the summer, according to head coach Kamra Davis.

Out of four meets they have participated in, the swimmers have a total of 205 best times, said Davis.

"We have a lot of returning swimmers and are getting new swimmers ever week. We have record numbers this year and the most that have swam in a meet is 38 but we have 90 swimmers on the team," she said.

Some of the memorable highlights this season include, Deegan Minchey, a new swimmer this year, breaking the team's record for the boys 9-10 25 free, Tyson Swasey breaking the 11-12 boys 50 free, and 100 free team record.

The Barracudas recently had 18 swimmers participate in a Invitational at Vernal. With five teams participating it was a close one as the Barracudas took first place by only 26 points to Vernal. Castle Dale finished in third, Moab in fourth, and Ephriam finished in fifth.

The first place finishers included Amanda Huber in the girls 11-12 200 free, Dallan Dart in the boys 8 & under 100 IM, 25 free, 25 back, and 50 free, Grayson Johnson in the boys 8 & under 25 butterfly, Katelyn Bower in the girls 8 & under 25 free, 25 back, Hunter Heath in the boys 9-10 25 free, and 50 free, Kaisha Lott in the girls 11-12 50 breast, Tyson Swasey in the boys 11-12 50 back, and 50 breast, Veronica Ibanez in the girls 13-14 50 fly, and 100 free, Joseph Keller in the boys 13-14 50 free, and 100 breast.

All of the swimmers performed well at this meet, Davis said noting that Elley Cowdell had a best time in the 100 IM, Kinley Cowdell a best time in 25 back, Kaylinn Gallup a best time in 100 IM, and 25 breast, Lauren Engar best time in the 100 IM, and 50 fly, Gabriel Ibanez had huge drops in time 25 free took off 30 seconds. 25 back took off 18 seconds., Nicole Swasey best time in the 25 free, Gavin Black best in the 25 breast, Megan Swasey best in the 100 free and Taycie Davis set a best time in the 50 breast.

"This was a great meet," Davis said. "The kids walked away with lots of medals in hand and their confidence in themselves is soaring."
