PRICE - Our loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Antonio (Joe Guy) Salazar, age 85, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012, at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home with his family by his side.

He was born May 19, 1927 in Lumberton, N.M. to Merced and Elena Archuleta Salazar. Married Rachael Vigil later divorced. On June 3, 1973, Joe married Stella Garcia in Price. She died Sept. 30,1996.

Joe was a long-time member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church where he was an usher. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. In his youth he worked as a sheep-herder and for the railroad. Joe was a member of the U.M.W.A. Local # 8622 where he retired from Castle Gate Coal Company after many years of dedicated service.

He was a proud member of the V.F.W. Miner's Post # 2379 and the Price American Legion Post #3 where he was an active member of the Honor Guard. He was the owner of La Estrella Blanca. Joe enjoyed his family, camping, dancing, attending church services, going for long walks and playing cards.

Survived by a son, Joey (Aimee) Salazar, Clearfield; and their children Ana, McKenna and Joseph Jr.; sister, Ramona (Daniel) Valdez, Price; brothers, Horace (Terri) Salazar, Los Angeles, Calif., and John Salazar, Price; grandchildren John, Damon, Connie, Mary Joe, Kent, Justin and many great-grandchildren; his very good friend, Fern Meredith. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Stella; sisters Rose, Virginia and Emily; children Claude, Helen, and Rachael.

Funeral Mass, Friday, July 13, 2012, 11 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Price. Vigil service Thursday evening 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, Price.

Family will be at Mitchell's Thursday evening at 6 p.m. and at the church Friday one hour prior to Mass. Committal service, Price City Cemetery, Price.

Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Joe at
