Officials who are managing the Church Camp fire just north of the Carbon County line say that they have a 90 percent containment on the fire and expect full containment very soon, in a press release that was issued Friday morning.

The fire that started on June 23 has burned about 7100 acres in the Argyle/Indian Canyon area and a number of structures have been destroyed during the blaze.

In the last two weeks local fire fighters from Price and Helper have assisted in protecting structures in the canyon and helped crews succeed in keeping many from going up in flames.

On Saturday property owners will be allowed entry to the area to assess damage to their property. The roadblock at the summit of Indian Canyon will still be in place and owners who want to go in will have to show identification and will need to be on a property owners list to enter.

Presently the fire fighting efforts are being staged out of the Duchesne County Fairgrounds in Duchesne. Currently there are 329 personnel on the fire which is comprised of eight type 2 engine crews, 18 engines, two helicopters, three bulldozers and eight water tenders.

The rain and humidity in the last couple of days have helped in fighting the fire. Today firefighters are working on hot spots and building fire lines. The size of the force working on the fire will decrease as the fire gets near to full containment. Full containment is expected to happen July 7.
