Wellington City has announced it is following Governor Gary Herbert's suggestion that people exercise "great caution" regarding the use of fireworks and firearms by citizens.

While no outright ban of fireworks has been announced by any local city, the Carbon County Commission has called a special session for 11:30 a.m. today in the courthouse to consider an ordinance to prohibit fireworks and fire-related activities in the unincorporated areas.

Helper City will conduct a special meeting at 4 p.m. in City Hall to consider an ordinance banning ignition sources.
