CARBONVILLE - Max Clifton Broadhead, age 68, passed away June 22, 2012 at Pinnacle Care and Rehabilitation in Price after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born April 3, 1944 in Provo to Max G. and Barbara Moffit Broadhead.

Max married Nancy Moller, they later divorced. On Nov. 18, 1983, he married Paula Nason in Huntington.

Max shared a love for the outdoors and one of his favorite hobbies was black powder rifles and attending the mountain men rendezvous. His love for the great outdoors enabled him to pursue a lifetime of camping, fishing, hunting and becoming a truck driver. Max loved wide open places and after years of being on the road he decided to work as a miner at Wilberg. After a brief career in mining, Max switched gears and began transporting coal so he could be closer to his family.

Max had a passion for coffee and after experimenting with several new blends he decided to open an espresso coffee shop and Christian bookstore in Carbon County. After this venture he operated a piloting service and eventually retired from D & D Equipment and Supply in Helper. Max enjoyed the company of others and because of his willingness to help those in need, the State of Utah honored him for rescuing a drowning victim on the Great Salt Lake. He will always be remembered for his generosity and many acts of kindness.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Broadhead, Carbonville; son and daughter, Max (Estella) Broadhead, Lehi, Christina Hundley, Provo; three step-children, Thomas Fish, Deanne Atwood, both of Huntington, Tim (Kalisa) Fish, Elmo; brother, Darryl (Gale) Broadhead, Provo; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Tanya Dawn Atwood.

Funeral service, Tuesday, June 26, 2012, 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 E. Main Street) Price. Family will be at Mitchell's Monday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Max at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
