By KEVIN SCANNELL Sun Advocate reporter

A man riding his bicycle on US-6 crashed his bike outside of Colton on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

UHP Trooper Todd Johnson said the man, David Smith, 74, Erda, was riding his bike eastbound along the highway near mile post 218 when he lost control of the bicycle, crashing just short of a bridge above the Price River. It is unknown if speed played a factor in the crash, Johnson said.

Johnson said Smith reportedly had minor injuries when authorities responded to the scene but refused any medical treatment.

Eastbound traffic on US-6 was closed down to one lane while authorities tended to Smith.

Smith was transported by police to the Soldier Summit gas station where he was picked up by family members, Johnson said.
