The Helper City Council gave its consent for all four applicants seeking a liquor store license at its meeting Thursday. The state Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control will determine who will be awarded the license to operate the package store.

Applicants are Steve Giacoletto, Calvin Ockey, Heather Mills, and Marsha and Rufus Ellington. Giacoletto wants to operate the package agency out of his Workmen's Market grocery store. The other applicants are seeking to run the liquor outlet as a stand-alone operation.

While the city government would prefer to see the liquor outlet reopen on Main Street, it is not going to oppose the off-Main proposal.
