Fund-raising breakfast will benefit families, parade set for Tuesday at 3 p.m.

A breakfast at Price's Washington Park will be held Saturday from 9-11:30 a.m as a benefit to raise funds to help families of the local National Guardsmen from the 1457th Engineering Battalion who leave for deployment next Tuesday.

The breakfast is open to the public and people are encouraged to come and support the troops. The cost for the meal will be $5 per person or $20 per family. Advance individual tickets for the breakfast can be purchased at a number of places throughout town including at the Sun Advocate office, Price City Hall, Supreme Muffler, KUSA, KOAL, the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, Eastern Utah Community Credit Union and Sutherlands.

The hope is that the breakfast can raise about $10,000 for the fund.

Many of the around 60 Guardsmen are the bread winners for their families and the deployment could put a real crimp into some of the families' finances, especially if it comes to emergency situations.

The local troops leave next Tuesday. There will be a parade for them as they leave Price on 100 North from 300 East to 300 West at 3 p.m. The troops will be in their vehicles as they pass by and citizens are asked to line the road in support. They are also asked to bring flags to wave as the troops pass by. The city and boy scouts want to line the street with 300 large flags.
