HELPER - Esther Helen Merz Shafer, age 86, passed away Feb. 17, 2003 in Provo.
She was born Nov. 5, 1916 in Perry, Iowa, to Matthew and Myrtle Redshaw Merz. Married Earl M. Shafer Dec. 24. 1935 in Monticello. He died Aug. 8, 2002.
Member of the LDS Church. Longtime resident of Helper.
Esther enjoyed sewing, gardening and painting.
She will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.
Survived by daughters, Janet Baer, Vancouver, Wash.; Janice Whipple, Price; son, Earl (Melva) Shafer, Salt Lake City; sisters, Alice, Babe, Dorothy, Betty, Marge, Carolyn and Nadine; brother, Robert; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; son, Robert Dean Shafer; sons-in-law, Bruce Baer and Ron Whipple; twin sister, Ethel; sister, Clara; and brother, Herbert.
Funeral service Friday, Feb. 21, 11 a.m., Helper LDS Stake Center. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m., and at the church Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
PRICE - Jeannine Clark Campbell, age 72, passed on Feb. 17, 2003 in Price.
She was born March 24, 1930 in Fairview, to Leo and Minnie O'Leary Clark. She married C. Calvin Campbell Dec. 1, 1950 in the Manti LDS Temple.
She grew up in Spring Canyon and Salt Lake City.
Jeannine was a consummate pianist, instilling a love of music in her family and innumerable piano students. She worked beside her sweetheart for over 50 years in the family business, the Campbell Company.
As an active member of the LDS Church, she served in numerous callings, most notably as ward and stake organist.
She was a skilled homemaker, seamstress and chef. Her greatest love was her family.
She is survived by husband, Calvin, of Price; children, Paul (Angela) Campbell, Florida; Dan (Kristy) Campbell, Pleasant Grove; Robert Campbell, Tre-monton; Joni (Richard) Olson, Oregon; Rick (Amy) Campbell of Price; Jeff (Tami) Campbell, Price; 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Paul Clark, East Carbon. She was preceded in death by her sweet daughter, Denise; sister, Oma Strong.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 22, 11 a.m., at the Price North LDS Stake Center, located at 400 North 100 East. Friends may call Friday evening, 7 to 9 p.m., at Fausett Mortuary, 680 E. 100 South, Price, and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial, Cliffview Cemetery in Price.
PRICE - Our beloved son, father, brother and friend, Nicholas Basil Eaquinta was tragically taken from us on Feb. 14, 2003.
Born Dec. 12, 1959 in Price to Dominic and Glorya Winiski Eaquinta. He married Denise Powell at Flaming Gorge.
He worked for UP&L for 19 years at the Huntington and Carbon power plants and transferred to St. George in 1987.
Nick had a flair for life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, cycling and landscaping. Most of all, he loved his sons and family.
Survived by mother, Glorya Eaquinta of Price; wife, Denise, and two sons, Colin and Cade of St. George; brother, Pete (Lyn-ette) Eaquinta and family of Helper; uncle Bob and aunt Charlotte, Bobby, Cody and Danny Pike, all of Price; nephew, Michael; and niece, Misty. Preceded in death by father; grandparents, Basil and Bella Winiski.
Memorial service Friday, Feb. 21, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitch-ell's Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
