1933-2012
Our dear little mom so gentle and frail, has returned to her home on the other side of the veil. She's now with her family who's passed on before, laughing and loving but hurting no more. Her life was devoted to five girls and three boys. She lived for her children; for they were her joy.
She taught us of Christ and His infinite love, and to acknowledge the Hand of our Father above. She worked at Reams where people would file to see the sweet redhead and her beautiful smile. Her love for her children was expressed every day in her thoughts, in her actions, and the words she would say. She sacrificed all, at one time or another. For you-we are thankful our dear little mother. We promise you this, as you've now gone away; we will all prepare to be with you someday.
Joyce was born in Provo to Jesse and Grace Hunt Thurgood. She is survived by her eight children: Linda (Gene) Mahana, Clark (Cindy Little) Shepherd, Debbie Shepherd, Kathie (Dean) Hill, Jeff (Tami) Shepherd, Sandy (Darren) Neil, Cheryl (Jacob) Boone, Dallin (Dena) Ekins, Spring LeDuc; 41 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; dear friend Glen Ray Spencer; siblings: Donna Shepherd, Garth Thurgood and Ronald Thurgood.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Orem Fourth Ward Chapel, 50 S. 800 E., Orem. Family and friends may attend a viewing Monday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 S. 300 E., Pleasant Grove and at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the East Lawn Cemetery, Provo.
