LONGMONT, Colo./LOGAN - Our loving, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Shirley M. Fillingim, age 89, passed away peacefully at home with her family in Longmont, Colorado on May 18, 2012.
Shirley was dearly loved by those she fostered and adopted as friends while alive. She was generous, had a lively sense of humor and many accomplishments. She was not one to brag, believing instead that her deeds would speak for themselves.
She was born in Dayton, Maine on March 17, 1923 to Walter G. and Harriet A. (Dennett) Manuel.
Survivors include children Sandy Fillingim, Dawn (Jim) Jones, Tallee (Frances) Fillingim, Lynn (Rick Martin) Fillingim, Vaughn (Ana) Fillingim, grandchildren: Heather Jones, Brian (Anna) Jones, Brandy (Jill) Fillingim, Patrick (Celeste) Fillingim, Shawn (Ania) Fillingim and Jessica (Bo) Cecala; great-grandchildren: Cecelia, Orion, Liam, Jasper Jones; Brayden, Payten, Hayden, Dante Fillingim; step-grandchildren: Zachary and Randi Jo Martin, Luiza and Diana Franca.
Shirley was preceded in death by husband A. T. Fillingim Oct. 5, 2005.
A memorial service to celebrate her life is scheduled for July 21, 2012. Time and place to be determined at a later date.
