Ben Steele creates many different pieces of art, each creative in its own way.

It is a love for art that has transformed Steele's life and brought him to Helper to hone and perfect his craft.

Steele, 34, spoke to students at Sally Mauro and Creekview Elementary schools last week about his art creations and the importance of artists from a number of different eras.

Steele was brought to the schools as part of a program called Meet the Masters. The program helps connect students to art by introducing them to a particular artist, learning from their techniques and then creating their own pieces of art based off the artist's creations.

Steele, a U of U graduatewith a degree in painting and drawing, said it was the first time he has been asked to speak to students about art.

"It was interesting to see the reactions of students when they view pieces of art," he said.

He said he hopes to inspire students to become more involved with art at school and at home.

Steele works out of his art studio located in Helper and has been in the area since June 2003.
