The Carbon High Lady Dinos Golf team took second place in Region 12 play, with a second place finish in the season ending 18-hole match on Tuesday afternoon at the region meet held in Spanish Fork.

Katie Felice lead the Dinos with a score of 69, Kelcy Otani, Lexi Gagon and Hailey Kirkwood rounded out the team with scores of 68, 64 and 59 respectively. Carbon's 264 was a good effort, at Spanish Fork's home course, but it fell short of the 278 posted by the host school. Delta finished third and Juab edged out North Sanpete for fourth place.

In Region play, Carbon finished second, 40 points behind the Region 12 Champions Spanish Fork. Delta was third in region and Juab grabbed the fourth spot. The top four schools go on to the State Tournament.

In individual standings, the Lady Dinos took three of the top five positions with Lexi Gagon taking second, Katie Felice in fourth and Kelcy Otani finishing in fifth. Spanish Fork's Britni Munter took top honors in individuals.

"The team got behind the first few tournaments and when they finally realized they could compete with anyone... well the lead was just too big," said CHS head coach Kenji Otani. "But, I would rather they peak for State than region and we are in the hunt for State. I am proud of the girls and the fact they did not give up even when faced with the 40-point Spanish Fork lead. I am also proud of the Lexi, Katie and Kelcy for the good play, 3 of 5, is pretty good. State should be interesting."
