HELPER-Our loving mother and grandmother, Grace Marie Magliocco Welch passed away April 22, 2012 in Eugene, Ore., at the age of 101.

Grace was born June 4, 1910 in Cedar Creek, Colo., to James and Josephine Guercio Magliocco. She graduated from Carbon High in Price and was a beautiful woman inside and out.

She married Angelo Welch, Oct. 29, 1934 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper. They were married 63 years prior to his passing on June 6, 2003.

In 1947, Grace started her career as a secretary at Helper Central School which later became Sally Mauro School. Grace, along with her husband Angelo, were very active members of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper. She was elected Alter Society President and Chairman of Arrangements. She was also honored as Woman of the Year at the 52nd Annual DCCW Convention in Salt Lake City, for her many years of services at St. Anthony's.

After her retirement from Sally Mauro in 1973, she did volunteer work at the Helper Museum and continued to be active with St. Anthony's. Grace was known for her devotion to the church, family and community. However, she was most famous for baking and scone making by her grandchildren, who swore they could smell them baking in Oregon.

In 2006, Grace and her daughter Joyce moved to Springfield, Oregon to live with her daughter Phyllis and her son-in law Joe Schaffeld. In 2012 and approaching 102 years old, Grace and Joyce moved to an Adult Living Home.

She is preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband Angelo, her parents and brother Joe.

Grace is survived by her two brothers, Mike and Frank Magliocco; her sister, Mary Magliocco; her two daughters Joyce Welch and Phyllis Schaffeld; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass, Friday, April 27, 2012, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper where friends are welcome to join the family one hour prior to the Mass. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements are entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Grace at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
