The Castle Country Bassmasters recently hosted the annual Casting Kids competition Feb.8. The program allowed boys and girls from age 7 through 10 and 11 through 14 to participate.

Those who attended the event were taught how to flip, pitch and cast for accuracy. The winners from each age group will now progress to the state finals on March 1. The State finalists then proceed to the divisional and then national competition held at the Bassmasters Classic in New Orleans.

A total of $25,000 in scholarships are awarded to the top five finishers in each age group.

Local winners of this year's event include Lora Anderson, age 10 from Price and Kyler Edgehouse, age 14 from Castle Dale. The winners are congratulated by Castle Country Bassmasters president, Dave Babcock.

Edgehouse has previously been to the finals three separate times and has been awarded a total of $4500 in scholarships to date.
