Dual county DUP convention held
The Daughters of Utah Pioneers held their two county convention on March 10.
Every year this convention is held with Carbon County and Emery County hosting the event every other year. This year Carbon County had the opportunity of being hostess for the event and it was held at the Carbon County Senior Center in the dining room.
The theme of Preserve the Past - Strengthen the Future was brought to life by the decor of the hall. Different areas portrayed a kitchen, bedroom, parlor and a tack room of pioneer living. "Pioneer" ladies brought a variety of antique furniture, clothing, quilts and necessities for living to display in the various rooms. Mannequins displayed wedding dresses over 100 years old. Pictures of all the company presidents, from 1923 to 2012, decorated the tables along with flowers and a miniature loaf of bread for each lady.
A speaker from the international office was Denice Whee1er from Wyoming. She is the editor of the Legacy, She told of the updating of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum located in Salt Lake City and showed many items that were on display there. There were over 100 members who enjoyed the event. A lovely luncheon was catered by Groggs.
