Boyd Barney is one of two Utah National Guard members from the 1457 Engineer Combat Battalion in Price who received a promotion Tuesday night at the armory.

Promoted to the rank of sergeant, Barney gets a little help from his family as his wife, Connie, gives him a pin while the couple's year and a half old son, David, steps into the action.

Also promoted was SPC Wade Argyle.

Thirty Carbon County guardsmen received deployment orders last week. The military personnel will be bused to Salt Lake on Thursday, then flown for additional training to Fort Lewis, Wash.
