High school students participating in rodeo from all over the state will be descending upon Price on Friday for the Carbon Rodeo at the Carbon County Fairgrounds.

The day will start off at 10 a.m. with the Queen Contest as a group of girls will be vying for the title of Rodeo Queen.

Starting at 3 p.m., small and large arena events will start and continue on through the end of the competition.

In the small arena competitions in tie-down roping, breakaway roping, goat tying and pole bending will take place.

In the large arena, rodeo participants will compete in barrel racing, steer wrestling, bareback, team roping, saddlebronc and bull riding.

Jill Jensen, an adult advisor with the Carbon Rodeo Club, said the team has been working very hard in anticipation for the home event.

"The kids have been putting in a lot of work for this meet," she said.

Also this will be the first time the high school rodeo event has taken place at Carbon County Fairgrounds after all of the improvements over the last year.

The Carbon Rodeo Club has a mixture of students from Carbon High School, Mont Harmon Junior High and Pinnacle Canyon Academy.

Following the Carbon Rodeo, a rodeo event will be in Emery County in Castle Dale on Saturday.
