Dinos offense unleashes its fury in 20-run rout of Layton Christian
The Carbon High Dinos baseball team wasted no time in finding their groove offensively against Layton Christian on Thursday afternoon at the Carbon High baseball field.
It took just one inning for the Dinos to take a 1-0 lead and in the bottom of the second inning, the Dinos exploded for 14 runs which blew open the game for good before closing with a 21-1 win that was shortened after five innings due to the mercy rule.
Many players on the Dinos had a hand in helping extend the lead as Bryce Blackburn, Dylan Vogrinec, Jake Nichols, Julian Tamllos and Kris Murdock each had doubles. Dakota Cisneros added a triple and Jaren McCourt added a home run to complete the team cycle of 13 hits over the five innings.
The Dinos were lent a helping hand by the vistors from Layton Christian who finished with eight errors that led to a number of runs for the Dinos.
While having a good day at the plate, Nichols also led the Dinos pitching staff on the day as he picked up his third win of the season. The Dinos allowed Layton Christian to score one run in the fifth inning and only allowed one hit in the process.
With the win, CHS moves to 7-3 on the season. They will travel to play Juab today at 3:30 p.m. and will play them again at home on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the Carbon High baseball field.
