Carbon High Baseball team sweeps games against Union, Highland
The Carbon High boys baseball team traveled to Roosevelt on Saturday for a doubleheader and by the time the team was headed home they carrying two extra wins in the standings.
Carbon defeated host Union High School 7-3 in the first game. Trailing 2-0, the Dinos finally broke through in the top of the fifth inning as they broke out for five runs. Senior Clay Finkbiner helped lead the offense during the day with three triples and Kris Murdock and Dylan Vogrinec each added a double. Dinos pitcher Jake Nichols picked up the win.
In the second game against Highland High School, the Dinos again were put into an early deficit as Highland led 3-0 after one inning. But as they did in the first game, the Dinos busted the game wide open with a six-run second inning to take the lead. The Dinos also had another big inning in the fifth with five more runs on their way to a 13-6 win. Junior Dakota Cisneros pitched a complete game for the victory and he also added a big home run to help lead the Dinos offense.
CHS (6-2 overall) will travel to face Maple Mountain today at 3:30 p.m.
