By JOHN SERFUSTINI
Sun Advocate associate editor

Miss Carbon County Kristen Kulow has taken on an ambitious platform for her reign this year.

She told the County Commission Wednesday that she wants to embark on a program to build self-esteem in young girls across the county.

Kulow thinks the curriculum should begin as early as Kindergarten and then should adapt to different age groups. She's still working on the specifics of what the progam will entail. However, she's convinced it is something worth doing.

"I think that if we can bring up independent, confident young women, it will affect the boys as well," she told commissioners.
